MG 1/100 MS-18E Kampfer Painted Build by Backy

I thought it was a super sports car *____* The metallic blue finish is just awesome. Overall this MG 1/100 MS-18E Kampfer Painted Build by Backy is a clean yet IMPRESSIVE paint job. By the way, this Backy from Japan is not the same person as Becky Customizer.

Awesome Metallic Blue MG Kampfer Painted Build

Although the title mentioned “Painted Build”, there are some modifications of details all over the Kampher. But overall what attracts me the most is the beautiful metallic blue.

Not every parts are bling. There is a nice balance of matte colour parts like the backpack, rifles, cannons and the chain grenade.

Sanding and colouring technique

In Backy’s blog, he shared some of his tools and methods to create the awesome reflection. Two rare tools are covered in his blog, Sand Blasting Cabinet and Urethane Clear.

Metallic Blue with purple tone

According to his WIP, he actually sprayed metallic / chrome red as the base colour. Not sure if he uses metallic blue or clear blue as second coat.

Sand Blasting Cabinet

It is a tools that uses high pressure fine sand to polish the surface. This is Backy’s sandblasting cabinet. Perhaps this is his secret for the super smooth surface.

Urethane Clear

Not sure if this is actually a type of varnish. This clear chemical is commonly use in automobile industry to protect the paint job. It comes with 2 bottles of chemical, clear and hardener. As the result it will gives strong protection and really shiny paint job for the plamo.

By the way, many kits he made are auctioned through Yahoo! Japan. His HGUC 1/144 Rozen Zulu is up to the amazing 44,000 yen O.O. With such level of finishing there is no doubt that he is the master in metallic colour Gunpla.
